Kelly Ripa recently said she carries more of her family's holiday responsibilities than husband Mark Consuelos may realize.

"No holiday would ever happen. No birthday would happen. Like, there would never be a cake. There wouldn't be a gift under the tree. None of that," Ripa said during the September 1 episode of Live with Kelly and Mark.

Ripa said she takes care of most of the tasks during holidays.

Ripa said the responsibility extends well beyond simply picking up presents.

"As a woman, do you write all of the cards?" she asked. "All of the birthday, Christmas, everybody's cards, all the kids, all the family members?"

Consuelos acknowledged that she handles those tasks.

"Are you in charge of all of the gifts?" Ripa continued. "Yes."

The exchange came while the couple were discussing the concept of "mankeeping," which Ripa described as "where women specifically tend to do the bulk of the work to support the emotional needs of their men."

"It can take on an unhealthy quality for the women," she warned.

Ripa said it wasn't good for her to be doing all that work alone.

While doing all that work helps keep the family organized, Ripa knows it's unsustainable. "It's not good for me," she said. "So, there needs to be like, more equality in the partnership."

She, however, acknowledged that she doesn't manage every aspect of her husband's social life.

"I don't believe I am your social secretary," Ripa said. "I believe you are in charge of making your own plans. A lot of women tend to be in charge of making, like, making adult play dates for their husbands. I don't do that."

Consuelos said he can help out with the cards.

Consuelos eventually volunteered to take one task off Ripa's list.

"Cards? I'll do cards," he said.

Ripa was quick to test how serious he was.

"Will you get the cards? Do you know where cards come from?" she asked.

"Yeah, the card store," Consuelos joked. "The card store at the drug store."

The exchange kept the discussion playful, even as Ripa argued that more of the household workload should be shared.

The couple has been married for about 30 years.

Ripa and Consuelos married in 1996 and share three children: Michael, Lola and Joaquin.

The couple celebrated 30 years of marriage in May, looking back on the relationship that began when they met on All My Children. Ripa called their marriage "the smartest, best decision I ever made in my life," according to TV Insider.

Consuelos shared the sentiment, saying their relationship "wasn't even a decision" and was "destined" to happen.
