'Deeply Nervous': King Charles Is Anxious About Talking to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Amid 'Royal Racism' Controversy
King Charles III is reportedly anxious about the prospect of ever speaking to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle again via telephone.
"Charles is also deeply nervous about the risks of conversations being leaked by the Sussex camp, which is why there have been very few of them," a royal insider spilled.
"The King would love nothing more than to have Christmas with his sons and all his grandchildren, but it’s not that simple, and there is no chance the Sussexes will be coming. It would make things very difficult because there is still so much hostility towards Harry and Meghan, particularly from the Prince and Princess of Wales," the source added.
After his 75th birthday phone call with Harry and Meghan on November 14, the monarch was allegedly "thrilled" about extending an invite to his son and daughter-in-law to spend Christmas at Sandringham. Just two weeks later, Omid Scobie's controversial book, Endgame, hit shelves and ignited a scandal thanks to a "translation error" in the Dutch edition.
His Majesty and Kate, Princess of Wales, were named as two senior royals who reportedly questioned what Prince Archie's skin color would be at birth. In her and Harry's 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan alluded to only one senior monarchy member asking the question. Scobie denied having anything to do with details in that version of his book, despite the translators telling a different side of the story.
The King and Princess of Wales characteristically remained silent when grilled about the claims from reporters at their engagements. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have also remained mum, despite Meghan collaborating with Scobie on 2020's Finding Freedom.
Royal analysts have stated that this controversy all but "killed" any hope of the duo receiving an invite to spend Christmas with the royals. Harry and Meghan have not done so since 2018, having decided to spend the holiday with Doria Ragland in California in 2019. "Megxit" occurred shortly after, and the pair have not returned to Sandringham since.

Although the King is allegedly the only senior royal who speaks with the Montecito twosome, Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, are mired in a "deeply bitter" feud with the royal rebels. The future king and queen have supposedly not spoken with their former "Fab Four" members since the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II in September 2022.
Due to Harry's claims about him and the Princess of Wales in the Duke of Sussex's memoir, Spare, the king-in-waiting is said to be "deeply hurt" and "furious" by what he sees as his brother's "betrayal."
