'He's No Diana, But He Is Trying': King Charles Is Working to Fast Track a 'Reconciliation' Between Princes William and Harry
King Charles III has a lot on his plate due to his illness, but this is apparently not stopping the ailing monarch from trying to "reconcile" his sons, Princes William and Harry.
"It is possible that since King Charles has never closed the door, since they're both his sons and since two senior members of the royal family are seriously ill, this presents an entirely new scenario. A new bridge," royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told an outlet.
"It is a very important anniversary because the service of Thanksgiving is being held to celebrate 10 years of the Invictus Games, and this, of course, was a remarkable thing that Harry founded," he added. "One of the problems is that it will be overshadowed by whether Meghan will be there; I would think not. And then again, as to whether or not he will see his father, will King Charles play a role in peacemaking?"
It is speculated but not confirmed that Meghan Markle, along with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet Diana, could join Harry when he travels to London for the 10th anniversary celebration of the Invictus Games. It would be the Duchess of Sussex's first trip to Britain since Queen Elizabeth II's state funeral in September 2022. It would be the Sussex kids' first trip back since the late monarch's Platinum Jubilee celebrations a few months earlier.
Fitzwilliams added: "The rift is very deep; as we all know, the Sussexes for four years have attacked the royal family, and William is naturally suspicious because he doesn't trust Harry."
"With very good reason because of the attacks. However, given the fact that King Charles is undergoing treatment for cancer and given the fact that Catherine is seriously ill, preventative chemotherapy is, I should think, desperately stressful for him," the expert observed.
Fitzwilliams concluded: "If you made that courageous video message to the nation, will they get together? I suspect the answer to this lies in private talks privately that we don't know about. So we know that William was in touch with Harry after the video message. The reports were the Sussexes didn't know of Catherine's condition before then. The facts are, however, that we simply don't know what's going to happen."

Amid this insight, a palace source recently claimed that Harry has "anxiety" about the trip due to "regretful" sensitive information he shared in his memoir, Spare. The Duke of Sussex wrote that he killed some 25 Taliban fighters during his tour of duty in Afghanistan during the late 2000s and early 2010s. Numerous royal analysts observed that the fiery-haired prince wrote about the lives he took in a "boastful manner."
