Lady Gabriella is the daughter of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, who rarely represents King Charles III and Queen Camilla at royal events seldomly. Thomas and Lady Gabriella were married in St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle in May 2019, in a ceremony attended by Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip. The aristocratically-titled writer for The London Magazine met Thomas, a financier, and became engaged for marriage in 2018.

A statement on behalf of Lady Gabriella and Thoma's family read: "It is with the deepest sorrow that we announce the death of Thomas Kingston, our beloved husband, son and brother. Tom was an exceptional man who lit up the lives of all who knew him. His death has come as a great shock to the whole family, and we ask you to respect our privacy as we mourn his passing."

A Buckingham Palace spokesperson further shared: "The King and the Queen have been informed of Thomas’s death and join Prince and Princess Michael of Kent and all those who knew him in grieving a much-loved member of the family. In particular, Their Majesties send their most heartfelt thoughts and prayers to Gabriella and to all the Kingston family."

King Charles is currently battling cancer, and has not appeared at a public event in weeks.

An official inquest will be undertaken to determine Thomas' exact cause of death, but preliminary reports suggest that there is no suspicion of foul play or other "circumstances." It was also revealed that no other parties were involved, which could suggest that the financier died alone.

This tragic news comes amid breaking headlines concerning Prince William and his pulling out of King Constantine's funeral for "personal reasons."

The heir to the throne's reason for missing the service is believed to be unrelated to his wife Princess Kate's recovery from abdominal surgery she had last month. While details regarding William's absence remain disclosed, a source confirmed to a news publication: "The Princess of Wales continues to be doing well."

Charles' absence from the service for his second cousin at St George's Chapel in Windsor comes in the midst of his ongoing cancer battle. The specific kind of cancer the king was diagnosed with has not been revealed to the public.
