'She Had a Diamond Reset': Intense Meghan Markle Fan Speculation Mounts Over New Look to Duchess' Engagement Ring
Meghan Markle's engagement ring frequently made headlines in 2023 and is set to continue that trend this year thanks to photos showing it's "changed size," according to Sussex fans.
"I’ve been saying she took the ring off to slowly change the size of the diamond. What do we have here!?" one fan wrote on social media about a new picture from Alliance of Moms featuring Meghan wearing the ring.
The ex-actress appeared next to fellow alliance members, Kelly McKee Zajfen and Abigail Spencer, in matching "love like a mother" t-shirts and jeans. It's new makeover led another fan to state: "Yeah, that looks like a diamond twice the size of the original," while someone else shared: "So that’s why she didn’t wear it for so long. In the hope that no one would compare pictures."
Reports surfaced last year that discussed allegations, sharing how Prince William was "worried" that the ring was apparently missing due to it having jewelry that belonged to Diana, Princess of Wales.
"Prince William's concern over the diamonds from his mother's collection featured in Meghan's engagement ring is understandable," jewelry specialist Laura Taylor told an outlet in October 2023.
She continued: "Meghan may be keeping the ring safe to avoid losing Diana’s diamonds, knowing that if they were misplaced, it would put an even bigger strain on the relationship between the two families."
The Duchess of Sussex's engagement band was reported as missing for months last year, which many found odd based on the former actress' comments about the ring in 2017.
"Everything about Harry’s thoughtfulness and the inclusion of [Princess Diana’s stones] and obviously not being able to meet his mom, it’s so important to me to know that she’s a part of this with us," the former actress once shared on a broadcast.
Despite the mystery surrounding the item, combined with the future king's concern, it turned out to be there was nothing at all to worry about, and that the Duchess of Sussex was simply having possible future modifications tested.

"People in the spotlight are always a target for thieves, so it is likely that the ring is being kept somewhere to ensure it stays safe. Keeping the ring locked away not only stops it from being damaged and needing to be fixed again, but it also keeps their family and Diana’s diamonds safe," Taylor observed.
"Many people have been focused on what the missing engagement ring means about Harry and Meghan’s marriage, and in doing so, they have missed a big clue. Meghan is still wearing the diamond eternity band Harry designed in 2019 for their wedding anniversary," she concluded.
