Miley Cyrus is mourning the loss of her godmother Dolly Parton, sharing a touching message following the country star's death.
"The feeling of losing my Aunt Dolly is beyond what feels right to share," Cyrus, 33, wrote in a lengthy tribute shared via Instagram on Wednesday, August 26. "Our most sacred moments were private and they’ll stay there behind the stage, beneath the glamour & between our hearts."

Miley Cyrus said Dolly Parton would want her to 'write a song' about the emotions she was feeling following her death.
The Hannah Montana alum was confident the "Jolene" singer would want her to "write a song" about the emotions she was feeling "and then continue on and be strong."
"I have an angel by my side. I always have. One of our last conversations was about music and metamorphosis," Cyrus revealed. "I will always love her and want to make her proud. My heart breaks for the world, her family and friends who will miss her deeply. We’re in this loss together and we will see her in all of the most beautiful things. 💖 @dollyparton."
Dolly Parton Died at 80

Dolly Parton was hospitalized on August 20 for 'kidney and autoimmune issues' on August 20.
As OK! previously reported, Parton died from cancer at age 80 on Tuesday, August 25.
Reps for the country singer told TMZ that she was surrounded by her loved ones at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center in Nashville, Tenn., at the time of her passing.
Sources told the outlet that the musician's death was "sudden" even to her family, as they knew she was sick but believed she would "pull through." She was previously hospitalized with "kidney and autoimmune issues" four days before her death on August 20.

Dolly Parton Spoke About 'Hard Times' With Her Health on August 21

Dolly Parton said she ignored her health issues while caring over her late husband, Carl Dean.
Patron addressed the "hard times" she was experiencing in a statement to People on August 21.
"I am dealing with some health issues that I just didn’t pay attention to when I was watching over [late husband] Carl [Dean]," she told the outlet. "It’s not like I haven’t been through hard times with my health, but I think because we live in a 24/7 world with social media, everything gets magnified in ways it wasn’t years ago. I used to joke that I was the Queen of the Tabloids, but now I guess I can say I’m the Queen of Social Media AI! Seriously, though, even though I’m still healin', I’m still workin.'"
Dolly Parton Missed Dollywood Ride Opening Earlier This Month

Dolly Parton signed her first record deal in 1965.
Parton's health made headlines earlier this month when she missed the opening of a new roller coaster at her Dollywood theme park in Pigeon Forge, Tenn.
The singer instead attended the grand opening of the ride virtually while wearing a pair of sparkly fairy rings, where she opened up about a "few little health issues."
"Sometimes I get a little dizzy, and I get dehydrated. And I’m dehydrated," she explained during a pre-recorded video. "And so my Nashville doctor clipped my wings, saying you ain’t traveling this week. So I guess if your doctor tells you you ain’t traveling this week, you ain’t traveling this week. So, I like to keep all of you in the loop like I said I would, on everything."
