Fall is officially here, and while sweaters, leather jackets and cozy knits might be getting most of the seasonal attention, there's another wardrobe staple making a serious style statement this year: the men's suit.
Forget the stiff, overly formal suits of decades past. Today's tailoring is all about combining classic sophistication with modern comfort, personality and versatility. Whether you're dressing for a big meeting, a fall wedding or a stylish night out, the right suit can make all the difference.
And according to New York City's tailoring expert Alan David, of Alan David Custom, Fall 2026 is bringing some exciting developments in men's suiting, from unexpected colors to innovative fabrics that look luxurious without sacrificing comfort.

While traditional navy and charcoal suits aren't going anywhere, this fall is giving men plenty of reasons to experiment with their wardrobes.
Forest Greens, Grays and Reds Are Having a Moment
While traditional navy and charcoal suits aren't going anywhere, this fall is giving men plenty of reasons to experiment with their wardrobes.
Deep forest greens, versatile medium grays and rich shades of red are among the standout colors gaining popularity, offering a refreshing alternative to the classic business suit.
"In terms of this specialty fabric, the greens, in particular, the dark forest greens have been very popular as we move into fall and the grays too, more the medium gray colors as well," Alan David exclusively tells OK!.
"The red colors have been phenomenal coming out of spring into the fall as a transition color," he adds.
Forest green is particularly appealing for the season, offering a subtle pop of color that feels sophisticated rather than flashy. Medium gray, meanwhile, provides a contemporary alternative to traditional charcoal, while burgundy and other red-inspired tones can bring personality to weddings and evening events.

Fresco: The Wrinkle-Resistant Fabric Worth Knowing About
Of course, color is only half the story when it comes to finding the perfect fall suit. Fabric plays an equally important role, especially during those unpredictable weeks when New York's weather can't quite decide whether it's summer or fall.
One material attracting particular attention at Alan David Custom is Fresco, an open-weave wool fabric that delivers a surprisingly lightweight feel while maintaining the structured appearance of traditional tailoring.
"Fresco is a beautiful material for suits this fall," Alan explains "The nice thing about it is it comes with a very open weave. You can literally see through it. It feels light but it looks heavier."
But perhaps Fresco's biggest selling point is its impressive resistance to wrinkles.
"It's bulletproof when it comes to wrinkling. It's the most wrinkle-resistant fabric you'll ever see," he adds.
For anyone who's ever stepped off a flight or emerged from a long meeting looking like their suit spent the afternoon crumpled in a suitcase, that's definitely an attractive proposition.

Bamboo Is the Unexpected Fabric for Fall
If there's one fabric that might surprise men shopping for a new suit this season, it's bamboo.
While often associated with soft bedding and casual clothing, bamboo-based suiting fabrics are also finding their place in the world of custom menswear.
"The hottest fabric, no pun intended, on the market in terms of transition is bamboo," David reveals exclusively to OK!.
"It's a perfect transition material for suits because if you wear it in the summer it's going to be too heavy, but if you wear it in the fall it's the perfect transition material right when you're in between high 60s, low 70s type of temperature."
That makes bamboo an interesting option for those early fall days when temperatures hover around 68 to 72 degrees and heavier winter fabrics still feel like overkill.
A Century of New York Tailoring
In a city that knows a thing or two about fashion, Alan David Custom has an impressive history dating back more than a century.
The family business traces its roots to 1913, when Jacob Ginsburg opened a clothing store in Brooklyn, beginning a five-generation tradition in New York menswear.
His son, Moe Ginsburg, later became a recognizable name in the city's clothing industry, opening a Fifth Avenue store in 1973. Continuing the family legacy, Alan David Horowitz entered the business in 1992 before opening his own Manhattan store in 2001.
Today, Alan David Custom operates from a 10,000-square-foot showroom at 515 Madison Avenue, offering personalized tailoring for everything from business suits to wedding tuxedos.
The company has also worked with entertainment productions, including Saturday Night Live, and created custom blazers honoring the NBA's 75 greatest players, including Michael Jordan and LeBron James.
And with fall bringing a fresh wave of fabrics and colors, the business continues to prove that great tailoring never goes out of style.
