Paris Jackson recalled what it was like to meet her mom, Debbie Rowe, as a teenager.
While on Alex Cooper's "Call Her Daddy" podcast, she said, "Expectations can kind of f--- us up."
"If I walk into a relationship with expectations, [I’m] probably going to end up being maybe disappointed or frustrated or irritated or a resentment will be born or something, you know," the star shared.
"And when I walk into something, and I don’t have expectations, it creates this really cool space for something organic to just blossom," she continued.
Paris Jackson Admitted She Often Wondered About Her Mother

Paris Jackson recalled what it was like to meet her mom.
The singer, sister of Prince Jackson, is the daughter of Michael Jackson and Debbie.
When Michael and Debbie decided to call it quits in 2000, the "Smooth Criminal" singer got full custody of the then-toddlers, whom Debbie didn't get to see for over another decade.
Around the time of Michael's death in 2009, Paris began asking questions about her mother, "and the answers I got were sufficient to me," she said. "Just like, ‘Oh, like what’s her name?’ And I got told her name, and I’m like, ‘All right, cool’... you know, moved on."
Paris's Bond With Debbie Rowe Was Immediate

Paris Jackson said they immediately connected.
Several years later, when she was being raised by her paternal grandmother Katherine Jackson, along with Prince and Michael's youngest son Blanket, Paris, then 15, met her mother for the first time since she had been in diapers.
"I remember coming downstairs, and she was in the living room with my grandma," she shared. "I came in, and I was just like, ‘Hey, mom.’ And she was like, ‘Hi.’ I sat down, we talked for a second, and then we went out for the day and just like hung out."

Paris credited their immediate bond to their zodiac signs, explaining, "She’s a [Sagittarius], so she’s got the fire, and I’m an Aries, so I got the fire. We’re very similar."
Since then, the mother and daughter's relationship has continued to flourish, with both of them leaning on each other through the ups and downs of life. In fact, when Debbie was diagnosed with b------ cancer in 2016, Paris made sure to be there.
Paris Was Debbie's 'Rock' Through Her Cancer Battle

Debbie Rowe said Paris Jackson was her 'rock' throughout her treatment process for cancer.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Debbie shared how her daughter was her "rock" throughout her treatment process for cancer.
"She’s amazing. She’s been with me the whole time. She was there. First phone call, [it] took her 30 seconds [to reach out] when she found out," Rowe said.
Paris also had similar compliments for her mother, as she said on Red Table Talk in 2021, "It’s cool, getting to know her, seeing how similar we are, getting into what kind of music she really likes. She really likes country and folk, so I sent her some of the stuff I’m working on."
