Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have washed their hands of the United Kingdom.

Royal historian Gareth Russell told an outlet, "[The Sussexes] don’t seem to have much interest in returning at the minute unless it’s for legal — not royal — court appearances!"

The fifth in line to the British throne and former Suits actress has not made a joint appearance in the nation since the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II on September 19, 2022. Harry returned briefly for King Charles III's coronation on May 6, while Meghan remained in California. The Duke of Sussex also made two separate, historic appearances at London's High Court in early June. It is believed that he did not meet with his family at all during his legal proceedings.

Royal expert Matt Wilkinson told a publication, "As with the fact that William and Harry didn’t appear together for the Diana Award, Harry not attending his best man’s [wedding] is quite a symbol that he’s just cut off his life back in the U.K."

The Duke did not go to his good friend, Jack Mann's, recent marriage ceremony and apparently ghosted his former polo competitor completely. Such behavior is a trait that is notorious with the Duchess of Sussex, who has been accused of ghosting the likes of Piers Morgan and Made in Chelsea's Millie Mackintosh among others.

Wilkinson continued, "They’ve got nowhere to live, so where would they be — the Premier Inn round the corner? They don’t have a base here in the U.K., and they’re worried about security."

As OK! previously reported, the Montecito royals no longer have a dwelling in the kingdom, and this has led to Harry being eligible to lose his prestigious counsellor-in-state status within his father's royal court.

But the feelings of the majority of the British public are likely mutual when it comes to their thoughts on the royal rebels. The couple's popularity in Britain hit an all-time low in June, with Meghan in particular attaining a -47 favorability rating from sampled British citizens.

Such numbers truly stick out for someone who allegedly once hoped her royal marriage would make her as famous and beloved as Diana, Princess of Wales.
