'Prince William Won't Allow It': Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's 'Return to U.K.' Blocked by Future King
News of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's potential return to Britain has been circulating, thanks in part to the British royal family's ongoing health scares. Former royal butler, Grant Harrold, spilled that the Duke of Sussex is "very keen" to return "home," yet another royal analyst says those hoping for a Sussex/Britain reunion should "dream on."
"He is extremely content with his life in California, and it’s not as if the royal family has shown the faintest interest in welcoming him home," royal author Christopher Andersen told an outlet when mentioning Prince Harry.
He continued: "Even if Harry wanted to pitch in while his father, the king, is battling cancer and [his sister-in-law] Kate Middleton is temporarily out of commission, [his brother] Prince William won’t allow it, pure and simple. The situation remains the same: a royal game of chicken. Who will be the first to give in? At the moment, it’s a complete stalemate."
The drama Andersen mentioned has been swirling around the monarchy ever since Harry and Meghan left the U.K. four years ago.
"Whatever resentment [the royal family] harbors toward Harry is only half the resentment they harbor toward Meghan," Andersen continued. "Conversely, Harry is a fierce defender of his wife, and I can’t imagine he’d be willing to resume any royal duties knowing that Meghan remains persona non grata in royal circles."
During "Megxit" negotiations in early 2020, which were overheard by the late Queen Elizabeth II during the twilight of her reign, the future celeb circuit royals claimed they wanted to work "part-time" as royals. The revered monarch was said to be "confounded" by this proposition since being a senior royal means you "serve the nation for life fully," as one palace insider put it.
Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams said of the new relocation rumors: "This was decided by the Sandringham agreement with the late queen. He has given up his patronages. Also, if he were to resume royal duties, it would become something of a circus revolving around him and Meghan."

"When Harry visited his father recently, he wisely came solo," Fitzwilliams added about the pair's February 6 meeting. "Meghan has not visited the U.K. since the queen’s funeral in September 2022. The idea that Harry and Meghan would wish to return is extraordinary... [And] public hostility to them in Britain is enormous. The future, such as it is, appears to lie in the States."
Although many top royal experts feel that a Sussex reunion is "impossible," there are a scant few who hope that the California celebrity royals can rejoin the monarchy of their titles "someday."
