On the Wednesday, March 6, episode of the popular reality show, Goldsmith was speaking with fellow contestant and former TV personality Fern Britton, who shared with him: "My feeling is that William must be furious now to have suddenly the weight of it all on his head and his shoulders."

Carole Middleton's brother responded: "His father, wife, [and] brother. While they try and reshape the royal family and modernize it. I think he's done an amazing job in that horrible situation. And he's always seemed that he has had an olive branch open at any time for Harry to come back and be part of the gang. I desperately feel that that's the case. It's difficult to get over."

Britton then added how it was "heartbreaking to see two beloved sons warring that way."

Goldsmith replied: "I genuinely think that they should take the titles away," seemingly referring to Harry and Meghan's Sussex titles.

The author and Middleton family "black sheep" also engaged in behavior one viewer on social media labeled "cringe bragging" as his conversation with Britton shifted.

"Humble stock," he told the former game show hostess when discussing his family. "Dad was a painter and decorator. Mum was an accounts clerk, so they worked hard. But Carole and I were both 'multi' before we were 30."

Britton puzzlingly asked the businessman to explain what he meant, to which Goldsmith answered: "Multi-millionaires," before adding: "That's why I get really a bit narky when they say Kate's a commoner. There's nothing common about the family, nothing."

Goldsmith makes his appearance as the Princess of Wales continues to recover from a "serious" abdominal surgery she received on January 16. The future queen was spotted in a car with her mother, Carole, on Monday, March 4, and is still expected to return to royal duties "after Easter."

His decision to join the series has been called the "most controversial signing ever."

"He is one of those relatives who needs a lot of attention and wants to get some money," royal expert Angela Levin dished. "Even though I believe he is a millionaire, he would like to make money out of it, and I think that's a shame," she added. "The thing is, he probably thinks he can control whatever he says and become famous. But in actual fact, with the cameras running all the time, you can easily slip and say something completely inappropriate."
