Royal Expert Says Prince William Feels 'Intense Frustration' Over Harry's New Diana Movie Plans That 'Divide' Their Legacy

Prince William is reportedly unhappy about Prince Harry's plans to make a movie about their late mother, Princess Diana.

As a royal expert and Daily Mail’s Senior Editor-at-Large, Richard Kay claimed that the alleged project has left William, 44, with “intense frustration.”

This comes after Harry, his wife Meghan Markle, and their two kids, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, decided to move back to England after spending the last six years in California.

Richard went on to note that both Harry and William were “last really in step” when they worked together on the Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy documentary in 2017.

However, William's younger brother's plans for another movie will “throw up that old canard” with “people always link[ing] Harry to Diana,” the royal expert predicted.

“She was the mother of two boys,” he emphasized about Diana, who passed away in August 1997 at 36. “William is just as much his mother’s son as Harry is, and Harry has tried to claim the Diana legacy for himself.”

Continuing to talk about the Prince of Wales, Richard pointed out that William “does not bang on about his mother all the time, though he has at several points.”

“This issue of trying to use Diana, the Spencer brand, the Spencer name, to divide himself away from the House of Windsor, I think is something we’re going to see even more of,” he continued.

Meanwhile, it's no news that Harry and William have had a strained relationship for years, especially after the Duke of Sussex decided to walk away from the monarchy six years ago.

The Prince of Wales has also yet to respond to his sibling’s bombshell move back to the United Kingdom from their Montecito, California, mansion.

Though no official news has confirmed it, the royal expert claimed, “One of the reasons Harry [returned to the United Kingdom] is to make a television film, his own film, about his mother.”

He further alleged that Harry, 41, “has been reaching out to his friends and others who knew” his mom and “asking them to contribute.”

The royal expert noted, “Let’s not forget who Harry spent time with when he was here in July, it was Diana’s family at Althorp.”

He also alleged that this reported project will “occupy a lot of [Harry’s] headspace over the next 12 months.”

Additionally, a source close to the Prince and Princess of Wales told the outlet recently that William and Kate Middleton plan to proceed with business as usual, with their estranged family members nearby.

“It makes no difference if Harry and Meghan are in Oxfordshire, California or Timbuktu,” the couple’s friend said.

Per the outlet, “William and Catherine will continue their lives of public service. They intend to lead by example.”
