'Happy as Ever': Thomas Kingston and Lady Gabriella Kingston Were 'Chatty' and Outgoing Just Days Before His Tragic Death
Thomas Kingston was described as "happy and chatty" with his wife, Lady Gabriella Kingston, during an outing at the National Gallery in London, just five days before his death. The financier was found dead at a residence in Gloucestershire on Sunday, February 25, during the evening hours.
Local law enforcement stated: "The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
"They seemed happy and positive as ever. Ella was particularly chatty," a mutual friend of the couple shared, while another observed: "It's utterly shocking. None of us saw it coming. I cannot understand it." Thomas was only 45 years old at the time of his demise.
Lady Gabriella is the daughter of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, who rarely represents King Charles III and Queen Camilla at royal events seldomly. Thomas and Lady Gabriella were married in St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle in May 2019, in a ceremony attended by Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip. The aristocratically-titled writer for The London Magazine met Thomas, a financier, and became engaged for marriage in 2018.
A statement on behalf of Lady Gabriella and Thomas' family read: "It is with the deepest sorrow that we announce the death of Thomas Kingston, our beloved husband, son and brother. Tom was an exceptional man who lit up the lives of all who knew him. His death has come as a great shock to the whole family, and we ask you to respect our privacy as we mourn his passing."
A Buckingham Palace spokesperson further shared: "The King and the Queen have been informed of Thomas’s death and join Prince and Princess Michael of Kent and all those who knew him in grieving a much-loved member of the family. In particular, Their Majesties send their most heartfelt thoughts and prayers to Gabriella and to all the Kingston family."
King Charles is currently battling cancer and has not appeared at a public event in weeks.
Thomas' death comes at what many are calling a "grim time" for the British royal family. Analysts cite His Majesty's "dire" cancer diagnosis and Kate, Princess of Wales' still unknown abdominal condition that led to a "serious" surgery on January 16. The ongoing "royal shortage" also has fans concerned about the institution since Charles and Kate's illnesses have highlighted just how few working members there are.

An official inquest will be undertaken to determine Thomas' exact cause of death, but preliminary reports suggest that there is no suspicion of foul play or other "circumstances." It was also revealed that no other parties were involved, which could suggest that the financier died alone.
