It seems like everyone is “going green” nowadays. And, no, we’re not talking about environmentalism or cannabis...although those are genuine modern trends! Instead, we’re talking about the increased popularity of Japanese green tea, particularly matcha. Famous for its role in the Japanese tea ceremony, matcha powder has been the go-to stressbuster for Buddhist monks searching for satori.

While there’s no guarantee this iced matcha latte recipe will get you enlightened, it certainly will taste divine. Add in a drizzle of Tribe’s CBD oil, and we bet you’ll feel extra calm after a few sips.

Since matcha is often touted for its health benefits, many people are surprised to learn a cup of this tea has quite a bit of caffeine. In fact, a recent report found that a glass of matcha tea has just as much caffeine as a shot of espresso!

So, why do people feel so “zen” after drinking this green beverage? The answer lies in an amino acid called L-theanine. This unique compound seems to help balance out the tea’s caffeine, so you don’t feel a sudden surge of energy.

Plus, since our matcha green tea has a dose of CBD, it should help curtail caffeine’s jittery effects. As you may have heard in our previous blogs, many coffee drinkers already rave about mixing CBD with their java. So, if CBD could prevent coffee-related anxiety, why couldn’t it work in tea?

Milk with matcha tastes oh so right, but there is a slight downside to mixing these ingredients. Unfortunately, a few studies suggest the casein proteins in milk may interfere with catechin absorption. For those who aren’t aware, catechin is the crucial compound in green tea associated with heart-healthy benefits.

While this doesn’t mean drinking iced matcha lattes is “unhealthy,” it does mean it’s “less healthy” than drinking it with water. However, if you’re a fan of non-dairy milk, you could easily avoid this issue. For all you health nuts out there, be sure to try the above recipe with coconut, almond, or oat milk. Keep experimenting until you find what works best for you.

Find Your Inner Zen With Tribe CBD Oil

While matcha’s L-theanine shows anti-anxiety benefits, CBD is no slouch in the stress relief department. In fact, a recent study in Japan examined the effects of CBD oil on a group of high school students. Interestingly, the participants who took CBD had lower social anxiety scores than those in the placebo group. This is just one of many studies that suggest CBD may have a calming effect on our nervous system.

So, the next time you’re feeling overwhelmed by the world, you should consider downing a dropperful of Tribe’s high potency CBD oil!
