‘The Young And The Restless’ And ‘General Hospital’ Score Top Honors At The 2019 Daytime Emmy Awards

The 2019 Daytime Emmy Awards took place on Sunday, May 5 as the Pasadena Civic Center. The Young and the Restless and General Hospital were the big winners of the night, while many other shows and stars were left empty handed. Read on for all the details.
Y&R scored Outstanding Drama Series for the 10th time. The longtime soap hit an emotional turn in February when one of their leading men, Kristoff St. John (Neil Winters) suddenly passed at the age of 52.
It was a big night in the acting categories for GH. Maurice Benard scored Outstanding Lead Actor for the second time. He’s been part of the show since 1993.
GH’s Max Gail and Vernee Watson won Outstanding Supporting Actor and Actress, respectively. This was his first Daytime Emmy win, her second.
The ABC soap also earned trophies for Outstanding Younger Actress (Hayley Erin) and Outstanding Guest Performer (Patricia Bethune).

Days of our Lives and Bold and the Beautiful weren’t as lucky in the acting categories, only winning one apiece. DOOL won for Outstanding Younger Actor (Kyler Pettis) and BATB took home Outstanding Lead Actress (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood).
The ladies of The Real, who triumphantly won Outstanding Talk Show Host in 2018, lost this year to Live with Kelly and Ryan.
Other winners included Alex Trebek (Jeopardy) for Outstanding Game Show Host and Valerie Bertinelli (Valerie’s Home Cooking) for Outstanding Culinary Host.
