George, Serena & More: Why These A-Listers Scored An Invite To The Royal Wedding

Something very noticeable about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding was the abundance of A-list stars there including George Clooney, Serena Williams and David Beckham. So how did each of these international stars score an invite to the hottest ticket in town?
The world was watching as Meghan and Harry got married at St. George’s Chapel inside Windsor Castle on Saturday afternoon.
The chapel became its own red carpet of sorts, as megawatt A-list stars bared witness to the biggest wedding of the year. So why were they there in the first place?
Late night host James Corden was not only a guest at the wedding but it was rumored that he hosted the evening reception that followed. He’s previously enjoyed some nights out on the town with Harry in the affluent area of London called Mayfair.
George attended with his gorgeous wife Amal, and he was the one to introduce Meghan to her hairdresser Miguel Perez. This resulted in several stylings for the Duchess’ public appearances prior to getting married.

David was also two of a kind for the big day, showing up with his wife Victoria by his side. The former soccer star has worked with a ton of charities that would impress a royal philanthropist, including UNICEF and the Elton John AIDS Foundation. Meghan has also visited the private club that Posh has set up close to the Soho Farmhouse in Oxfordshire. She spent weekends with Harry in a “love nest” nearby the location.
Elton John wasn't only a guest but he also sang at the luncheon held shortly after the wedding, which was hosted by Queen Elizabeth II. His invite was a bit of a no-brainer given the history he has had with the royal family, in particular with Harry’s mother Princess Diana.
Serena Williams attended the wedding with her hubby Alexis Ohanian. The tennis pro has been friends with Meghan since 2014, when the former Suits actress asked her to participate in the Ice Bucket Challenge that helped raise money & awareness for ALS.
Idris Elba attended a memorial service for Nelson Mandela at Westminster Abbey back in 2014. It was here that the Luther star may have actually bumped into Harry, and four years later… the actor was at the prince's wedding with fiancee Sabrina Dhowre.
