Amandla Stenberg was honored earlier this week with the esteemed Visibility Award at the 2019 Human Rights Campaign Greater New York Gala. The annual event aims to raise funds for the fight for LGBTQ equality. The gay actress gave an impassioned speech at the bash and voiced her support for the civil rights group at their annual gala.
The 20-year-old glammed it up in a beige gown that was decked out with silver diamond jewels along the neckline and the sleeves.
The Hate U Give actress styled her brunette locks into stylish braids and she rocked glossy hot pink lipstick.
Amandla took to the podium and delivered a speech that was both powerful and moving on the subject of LGBTQ rights when she accepted her award.

"I must be pretty darn blessed if I can stand up here and accept an award just for being me. It can definitely be strange to be vulnerable in matters of personal identity when you’re navigating it in a public manner, specifically within the very straight confines of Hollywood," she said. Amandla announced that she was gay in June 2018.
The Hunger Games star continued, "I’m super thankful for the recognition of that challenge, but I also know there are so many others who do not have the support that I do who definitely aren't receiving any awards for being out and proud. So I dedicate this award to those people. I dedicate to everyone in this room. I never would have felt comfortable being me had I not seen the unapologetic and brilliant way in which you do you."
