Battle of the A-listers! Angelina Jolie and Lady Gaga are getting into a heated battle over who will play the coveted role of Cleopatra in the upcoming eponymous film. The biopic has been in development hell for years and Angelina has been attached to star for quite some time. But it looks like another star might be added to the mix.
A source revealed to OK! Magazine that Gaga is vying for the role against Angie.
"Angie has wanted to work on the film for a very long time, but it looks like she’s going to have to go up against Lady Gaga for the lead,” the insider said.
The "Love Game" singer is a strong contender for the role. She's been riding hot off of her critically-acclaimed role in Bradley Cooper's A Star is Born.
Arrival director Denis Villeneuve was in early talks to direct the historical biopic about the famous Egyptian queen late last year. Angelina's version is a remake of the 1963 flick that starred Elizabeth Taylor.
“Gaga feels like she’s at the perfect point in her career to tackle a role like this,” an industry insider told OK!.
