It was on Wednesday’s Ellen where Anna got real about how she recently got her five-year-old rejected from a potential private school in Los Angeles.
She began, “I went to this private school where they had all the parents sit around in a circle—and I don’t know anybody—and there were a bunch of toys in the middle of a circle. We were supposed to pick a toy out and talk about the weather. That was the only instruction."
Though she at first called the audition process “terrifying,” she really got into it with this exercise and used the time to talk about how scared she was to do this and her fears of rejection. She remembers speaking for a while before she stopped herself.
She told Ellen, “I’m realizing as I’m saying this, I’m putting my foot in my mouth, so I pass the bear on to the next person, and she’s like, ‘Well, it’s pretty sunny outside for me!’” Awkward!
Anna said that what made the moment even more uncomfortable was that the rest of the parents strictly commented on the weather—none of the emotional feeling she brought up when it was her turn. “I wanted to run out of there so fast," she admitted and added, "Anyway, we got rejected.” Oh, no!
