In 2001, Ashton Kutcher was still an up-and-coming actor, starring in That ’70s Show and a few films. At the time, the actor was dating Ashley Ellerin. On February 21, the actor reportedly called Ashley twice that day, but she never picked up her phone. When Ashton went to pick her up for a post-Grammys Awards party, Ashley didn’t answer the door. Eventually, the model-actress was found stabbed to death in her apartment. In 2008, cops arrested suspect Michael Thomas Gargiulo, whose case could finally go to court in October. And now Ashton, nearly 16 years later, is expected to testify in the trial of the alleged serial killer.
According to RadarOnline.com, Michael moved to Los Angeles from Chicago, where he allegedly killed other victims. He lived within 400 feet of Ashley and entered her home while she was showering and stabbed her 47 times, court documents allege.
“He slashed Ms. Ellerin’s throat so violently he nearly decapitated her,” the documents claim. “After she was murdered her body was left displayed in a … demeaning pose that was sexual in nature.”

Michael is also accused of murdering his neighbor Maria Bruno in December 2005. Prosecutors called him “a serial, psychosexual thrill killer who engages in the systematic slaughter of beautiful women because he takes sexual pleasure from manipulating, stabbing and killing his victims.”
After countless delays, Michael’s lawyers are finalizing details to make sure the trial goes forward in October of this year, and it could last as many as 12 weeks, Radar reported. Because he could help establish a time of death, Ashton is expected to be called as a key witness in the case.
