Ben Affleck’s rehab announcement was a total shocker. RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned that the actor tried to keep his treatment on the down low in order to get a speedy recovery!
Only a handful of Ben’s closest family and friends were aware of his decision to enter a rehab facility in California.
Shockingly, Ben was going through treatment during awards season. An insider told Radar, “He was actually in rehab at the time of the Oscars! He got a pass out for that night to attend the awards.”
Ben chose to announce the news himself via a touching Facebook post: “I want my kids to know there is no shame in getting help when you need it, and to be a source of strength for anyone out there who needs help but is afraid to take the first step.”

“I’m lucky to have the love of my family and friends, including my co-parent, Jen Garner, who has supported me and cared for our kids as I’ve done the work I set out to do. This was the first of many steps being taken towards a positive recovery,” Ben added in his post.
Ben and Jennifer announced their split in 2015, and now they’re trying to make it work. Maybe Ben’s rehab treatment was part of Jen’s reconciliation plan?
