The former couple stated in a joint statement that People got their hands on, "With tremendous love and respect for each other, and the 18 years we spent as a couple, we have made the decision to separate."
The 51-year-old actor and his 45-year-old future ex wife have two kids together — Ella, 15, and Quinlin, 11 — who they plan on remaining on civil terms for.
"Our priority will continue to be raising our children as devoted parents and the closest of friends."

So why did the former costars and lovers decide to break things off? "It gets hard — he has a very busy Hollywood career, and she's been very focused on being a mom," a source told People.
