The shock over Beyoncé’s record-breaking new visual album, Lemonade, still hasn't worn off as her fans and music lovers continue to dissect the cryptic lyrics and powerful imagery of the project. And a source recently told US Weekly even more dramatic details about the couple’s latest marriage scandal, refueling the discussion about the state of their marriage.
The insider said that the songs on Lemonade about betrayal and a husband cheating on his wife — which many speculated were commentary on Bey's rumored issues with Jay Z – are indeed the singer’s commentary on her marriage scandal. “The album says it all,” the source said. “It explains how she and Jay got through their problems. The good outweighed the bad, so she gave him a second chance.”
The insider added that Bey “always turned a blind eye” to the rumors about her husband stepping out of their marriage. But the source said the situation changed after footage leaked of Beyonce’s sister, Solange Knowles, attacking Jay Z in an elevator in May 2014 after she reportedly caught him getting too close to designer Rachel Roy at a Met Gala after-party! “The rule was always that Beyoncé better not find out. But that night, Jay disrespected his wife in her own face,” the source said. “Things really came to a head because it became so public and crazy.”
A second source added that amid the fallout over the elevator incident and the new Jay Z cheating reports that surfaced after the fight, Beyoncé actually drafted up a divorce announcement to send to the Associated Press if she decided to file for divorce from her husband.
However, the source added that Bey’s mother, Tina Knowles, encouraged her to think the situation through. “She was giving Beyoncé advice to work it out,” the insider said, adding that Tina “is the best therapist.” The insider continued, “She knows her daughter inside and out.”
The source said that Bey and Jay committed to working through their issues while on a trip to the Hamptons during the summer of 2014. And the insider said she funneled her emotions over the marriage drama into her Lemonade album, a project her mother praised her for on Instagram following the album’s release on April 23!
The source said Bey “knew what she was doing” with the history-making album and the story she told with it. “Music is a powerful tool for emotions and experiences. It’s cathartic for artists. This album has those elements. And millions of people are talking about it.” And the insider said that project has helped Bey and Jay attempt to move on from their troubles. “She’s processed everything and moved forward,” the source said.
