From top knots to colored eyeliner, check out the trends your fave celebs couldn't get enough of in 2012!
1. The Fishtail Braid

There's no denying braids were HUGE this year: waterfall, dutch, 5-strand, side—they took over the runways, Pinterest, and tons of how-to videos on YouTube, but one stood out from the rest: Blake Lively's amazing fishtail. Her flirty, woven, pony was the perfect complement to her custom yellow Gucci dress and those turquoise statement earrings? AMAZING.
2. Colored Liner

Forget basic black and brown, the eyeliner motto of 2012 was the bolder the better! Demi Lovato's teal-lined lower lid was a gorgeous contrast to her cooper eye shadow and bronzed cheeks—and the extended wing-tip? Fierce all the way.
3. Dyed Tips

Rainbow-streaked locks were also a big hit this year! Lauren Conrad was one of the first to try them out and celebs like Ashley Tisdale and Demi Lovato were soon to follow suit. Don't get it twisted though, these aren't the all-over dye jobs of the '90s grunge era—these pastel to bright hues are modern all the way.

4. Vampy Lip

Neon pink and coral pouts might have been everywhere a few seasons back, but glossy blood-red lips are taking over right now. Sarah Hyland paired hers with an undone bun for vampy-meets-effortless look that totally worked.
5. The Top Knot

Nicole is one of the biggest trendsetters in Hollywood and her signature top knot saw all sorts of heights this past year.
6. Shaved Sides

Stars like Miley and Rihanna decided to take it all off this year—on the side of their heads. Rih went for a one-sided look, while Miley rocked two shaved patches and although this look might not be for everyone, one thing is a definite plus: less time required to get ready in the A.M.!
