Blac Chyna Gets SLAMMED On Social Media After Launching $250 Skin Bleaching Cream
Yesterday, Blac Chyna took to Instagram to announce her latest career endeavor — a new line of skin bleaching creams. However, not everyone was eager to celebrate this particular beauty product. Read on to find out what got so many people upset.
In the update to her account, the 30-year-old posted about the launch of her partnership with Whitenicious. She also included all of the information about the launch party, which is being held on November 25th in Lagos, Nigeria.
The brand describes its product as “an illuminating cream” that “provides radiant protection.” The description continues, “As time passes, skin becomes drier, dullness and wrinkles appear and the skin’s natural glow dims. With DIFBC, glowing skin shows less discoloration and unevenness while SPF protection minimizes future damage. Skin is bathed in moisture for a brighter beautiful comfortable feel.”
However, many people have slammed both the product and the location of Chyna’s party. According to the World Health Organization, 77% of Nigerian women use skin-lightening products. This is currently the highest proportion in the world.
People quickly took to social media to slam the former reality star. One person wrote, “They are really bringing Blac Chyna to sell bleaching cream for y’all in Lagos. This is actually sad.”

Another person pointed out, “Bleaching creams and the demand for them are inextricably linked to colonisation and internalised inferiority complexes.” Not to mention, many of these lightening lotions contain hazardous chemicals like hydroquinone, steroids, and mercury.
Blac Chyna isn’t the only artist in recent weeks to receive backlash related to skin bleaching. Last month, Jamaican dancehall singer and Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta star Spice came under scrutiny when she posted a picture to social media of herself with a much lighter skin tone.
However, Spice later explained that her skin was not actually bleached. She admitted she posted the shot for shock value to “create awareness to colorism.”
Blac Chyna has yet to make a statement on the controversy, and she has since turned off the comments under the launch party post.
