Brad Paisley Warned Chris Lane 'Don't Do That' When He Revealed Lauren Bushnell Proposal Plans
Before Chris Lane proposed to fiancée Lauren Bushnell, he sought advice from friend and tourmate Brad Paisley. Though Chris had the finer details planned out, Brad wasn’t sold on his idea. In a new interview, the country music superstar admitted he told the other man not go through with it.
“It was interesting, because Chris told me that he was going to propose, and he had got this song ready,” Brad explained to People. The song in question was Chris’ “Big, Big Plans” which included the lyric “Right now we’re back in her hometown/ and I’m down on one knee.”
“He’d written this thing and planned a whole thing. I had some friends on the tour bus, and they were all like, ‘That sounds pretty awesome,’ and I’m like, ‘Don’t do that,’” Brad admitted.
However, he added, “I’m glad he didn’t listen to me because it worked out great.”

Brad explained that the reason he wasn’t keen on Chris proposal plan initially, was because it was so different from how he proposed to his own wife of 16 years, Kimberly Williams-Paisley. “It was so opposite of what I did,” he said.
“I surprised her, and we were completely alone out on the end of a pier in Venice in Los Angeles,” the "My Miracle" singer recalled. “Nobody could really see us, and that was a safety net — in case she took off running down the pier.”
Chris proposed to Lauren back in June. After dropping to one knee, he popped the question in the backyard of her parent’s home in Oregon.
