If viewers want to enjoy a light-hearted romantic comedy in theaters, then they may want to steer clear of Angelina Jolie’s newest flick! With the actress-turned-director’s latest picture, By The Sea, bringing in low box office sales, Brad Pitt is begging his wife to stop directing misery movies!
“Angelina’s need to focus on such dark subjects and events in her filmmaking is starting to cause some problems,” a source exclusively told OKMagazine.com. “There’s a real concern over how much this movie can actually make, even in the fall season when people are prepared for more serious fare.”
By the Sea’s first weekend at the box office brought in only $95,440 at ten sites, while the movie cost nearly $10 million to make. Critics also panned the flick, as it received only a 32 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
“Brad’s desperately trying to convince Angie to lighten up with her filmmaking,” the insider said of the 40-year-old actress, who has directed the dark films Unbroken and In the Land of Blood and Honey, which were both poorly received by critics. “He understands her need to be taken seriously as a filmmaker, but there are just too many of these dark war-torn movies on her agenda.”
