Britney Spears Cancels Las Vegas Residency Amid Her Father’s Health Crisis

Britney Spears has cancelled all upcoming shows in order to spend time with her family followingher father’s recent health scare. The 37-year-old singer broke the surprising news in a recent post on Instagram.
Under a throwback picture of her, her mom, and her dad, Britney announced that she wouldn’t be carrying out her Las Vegas residency. “I don’t even know where to start with this, because this is so tough for me to say,” she wrote. “I will not be performing my new show Domination. I’ve been looking forward to this show and seeing all of you this year, so doing this breaks my heart."
Then she got candid about Jamie Spears' condition. “A couple of months ago, my father was hospitalized and almost died. We’re all so grateful that he came out of it alive, but he still has a long road ahead of him,” she explained.
According to a statement from Britney’s rep, two months ago Jamie’s colon “spontaneously ruptured.” He became “seriously ill” and was hospitalized for 28 days.

The statement also explained that he is “recuperating at home and gaining strength, and is expected to make a full recovery."
Britney echoed those sentiments on Instagram. “We’re all so grateful that he came out of it alive, but he still has a long road ahead of him. I had to make the difficult decision to put my full focus and energy on my family at this time," she wrote.
She ended by thanking her followers for their support and assuring her fans that refunds would be issued.
Domination would have been Britney’s second Vegas residency. It was slated to begin next month.
