K-Pop Group BTS Are Getting Their Own Barbie Dolls!
Now BTS fans can take their favorite member of the Korean music group home with them! Mattel has just announced its plan to create a special line of BTS dolls.
On Jan. 6, the toy company confirmed the big news at the Hong Kong Toys & Games Fair. Mattel announced they have a worldwide licensing agreement with BTS and their agency Big Hit Entertainment.
“Mattel, @bts_bighit & @BigHitEnt are bringing #BTSDollsOfficial to millions around the world! Follow us for #BTSxMattel updates. #BTS," Mattel tweeted.
The collection is slated to hit shelves this summer and it features all seven members of the band wearing outfits from their “Idol” video.

The video itself features trippy kaleidoscopic jump cuts with the members dressed in colorful suits and bold patterns. The remix of the song boasted a Nicki Minaj collaboration. It peaked at No. 11 on Billboard's Hot 100 last year.
"BTS is a pop-culture music phenomenon that transcends age, culture and language, and through this partnership, Mattel will offer a new way for millions across the world to engage with the band," Mattel explained in a press release. "Partnering with established franchises that have global appeal is a cornerstone of our strategy and given our creative expertise, we are perfectly suited to create products celebrating BTS."
This isn’t the first time BTS has delved into the world of toys. Last year, the group launched their successful BT21 collection — a collaboration with Japanese-Korean company Line Friends. Each BTS member designed their own character for the merchandise and each character appears on everything from oversized stuffed animals to pajamas and slippers.
