The documents state that Shaft “conceived, arranged and orchestrated Cardi B’s rise to become the biggest music sensation on the planet.” The papers also claim that Cardi B’s “rapid rise as a recording artist and performer is attributable to Shaft.”
Shaft claims he jumpstarted Cardi’s career when he got her on the VH1 show, Love & Hip Hop, and then provided her with “stable of producers and writers that he managed to create music for her.”

However, Shaft alleges a stylist poisoned Cardi against him. In the docs, he claims the stylist made Cardi believe he was “robbing” her and “making side deals at her expense.”
Ultimately, Cardi ended her business relationship with Shaft and switch to Quality Control Management. Shaft is now suing Cardi for breach of contract and defamation.
In addition to the $10 million Shaft is seeking from Cardi, he has also sued her new management company for $10 million as well.
