Cate Blanchett served as the President of the Jury during the 77th Annual Venice Film Festival, which ran September 2-12 in Venice.
As one of the first major cultural events to take place in Europe since global coronavirus pandemic, the festival returned with a number of new safety measures including mandatory face masks, temperature checks, physical distancing during screenings and a wall built around official arrivals to keep the public away.
The festival also serves as the unofficial return of the red carpet, and the 51-year-old took full advantage of the opportunity to show off a number of stylish ensembles, some of which she had rocked before.
From photo calls, to premieres, to street style, scroll through the gallery below to revisit Blanchett's fiercest fashion moments from the 2020 Venice Film Festival.
Styled by Elizabeth Stewart, the mom-of-four arrived in Venice on September 1 wearing a menswear-inspired ensemble by Giorgio Armani featuring a navy blazer, a white button down shirt and white wide-leg pants. She accessorized in white Clergerie platform oxfords and Valentino sunglasses.
Later that day, the actress was spotted at the Hotel Excelsior again wearing a Triple RRR Spring 2019 cloud print jumpsuit, accessorized with an Antik Batik shoulder bag, Alexander McQueen Eyewear and Stella McCartney platform oxfords.
At a photocall for the festival's opening film 'Lacci,' the ‘Blue Jasmine’ star stood out in a Giorgio Armani long sleeve navy and grey stripe blouse with matching pants and a red-and-black waist belt.
At the 'Lacci' premiere and opening ceremony, Blanchett wore an Esteban Cortazar Spring 2016 shimmery black-and-white trim ruffle dress with a high-low hemline.
Sustainable style! At the premiere of ‘Wife of a Spy,’ the BAFTA winner re-wore an elegant black Giorgio Armani Prive Spring 2015, which she originally debuted at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival.
On the sixth day of the festival, the Golden Globe winner was seen masked up wearing the same Acne Spring 2019 black embellished suit that she wore to the 13th Rome Film Festival back in 2018.
The ‘Carol’ star attended the Golden Lion Award for Lifetime Achievement Ceremony wearing an avant-garde Alexander McQueenSpring 2020 look, which blended a white ruffled gown and a deconstructed blazer.
On the eighth day of the festival, the Melbourne-native rocked a cool outfit which included a black Louis Vuitton pinstripe blazer, a Lucky Fish tee featuring a fist graphic and black leather pants. She accessorized with black boots, Jimmy Choo shades, Pomellato jewelry and a $1750 Gucci bag.
For the premiere of 'Amants,' the UN Goodwill Ambassador rocked an Alexander McQueen Spring 2016 asymmetrical, beaded embroidered top that she wore to the 2016 BAFTAs. She paired the familiar fashion piece with black trousers and finished the look with Stuart Weitzman pumps.
On the red carpet for the 'Khorshid' (Sun Children) premiere, Blanchett wore a Giorgio Armani look, which included a crystal embellished dinner jacket, relaxed white shirt, white wide-leg trousers and black pumps.
The Australian actress was spotted out on September 10 wearing a blue plaid Tibi Pre-Fall 2018 teamed with a black graphic print tee shirt, black skinny jeans, Alexander McQueen Eyewear and Giuseppe Zanotti pumps.
Also on September 10, Blanchett strolled around Venice in a navy cady crepe jumpsuit by Gucci, styled with white Cleregie platform oxfords, cat-eye sunglasses and a black Gucci bag.
The Armani beauty ambassador saved the best for last, when she wore a custom Giorgio Armani Prive Spring 2020 colorful, layered design, featuring a beaded cape over a strapless gown, to the festival's closing ceremony.
