Fans started to worry about the couple after Cate captioned a photo of their daughter, Nova, on Instagram, “My world. My baby. I’m going to be holding you a lot closer and a lot tighter… and I’m never letting you go.”
And Tyler took to Twitter to share cryptic messages that left fans concerned, writing, “How can something so beautiful as life cause so much pain? Damn, this is way harder than I ever imagined.”
The reality stars were referring to a man who shot his wife at an indoor play center in St. Clair County. The man turned the gun on himself later at his home, according to reports.
A source close to the couple said that the two are "shaken up.” Adding, “Nova, Cate and Ty’s daughter, wasn’t there but it was just super close to home. They’ve been there before, they’re familiar with the place.” Tyler told the source that it is a “scary time to raise a child.”
“This weekend’s tragedy just sort of floored them, but they’re alright,” the insider said. “Tyler was shaken though, no doubt. He was just keeps replaying the ‘what-ifs’ in his head.”
The couple is considering themselves “lucky.” The source explained, “It’s brought on their anxiety, unfortunately. But they’re fine, happy to be together and feeling blessed.”
