Dec. 25 2018, Updated 1:16 p.m. ET
Catelynn Lowell has been through a lot within the last year. The Teen Mom OG star checked into rehab twice after suffering a devastating miscarriage. Throughout all of her troubling times, her husband, Tyler Baltierra, stuck by her side and continues to do so. Now, the pregnant reality star is in a much better place and looking back on those times, she is aware of how her issues impacted those around her.
“I feel like every couple goes through bumps in the road, especially as you’re growing up together like me and Ty have. I mean, we’ve been together 13 years now and married for three, so we’ve grown up together," the reality star told Us Weekly.
Adding, "I feel like, as people, you grow up and you change in certain ways, and it’s all about learning how to process that with your significant other and how do you go from there or how you change things.”
MTV audiences first met Catelynn and Tyler when they appeared on 16 & Pregnant back in 2009. Over the years fans have watched the couple go through many ups and downs from their wedding days to suffering a heartbreaking miscarriage.

“It’s not like we’re in the gutter or we’re getting a divorce like everybody says. Couples go through ups and downs, just like any relationship, even friendships, family, you know, and it’s all about how you work through things,” she said about their relationship.
The pregnant reality star admitted that her struggle with her mental health definitely made an impact on their three year marriage. “What I went through put a lot of strain on a relationship, especially leaving him and him having to be a single dad for so long and running a business on his own. I have a lot of sympathy for what I put him through. I think that’s put a lot of stress on our relationship. Right now, we’re hitting a couple bumps that need to be worked through," she explained.
Back in the Fall of 2017, Cate and Tyler suffered a tragic miscarriage. Shortly after, she checked herself into treatment and returned home before New Years. However, knowing that she needed more help, she returned to treatment for another six weeks.
Tyler opened up about his reaction following the miscarriage on the Reality Life with Kate Casey podcast. "It was very emotionally intense for me. My first initial reaction was to help Cate,” he said. "I ran to her, held her. We cried. We just held each other for probably two hours and cried. That was our way of kind of letting go and accepting reality for what it is.”
Teen Mom OG premieres October 1st at 9pm ET, only on MTV!
