Katie sticks to a “very vegetable heavy diet,” but she admitted that she does splurge every now and then! “If I want to have a snack I’ll have something like Nutchello, if I need to satisfy a chocolate craving, I'll have the chocolate milk instead of grabbing a chocolate bar.”
And with the talent of cooking amazing food and whipping up some awesome cocktails, Katie revealed that the hardest part of her job is “staying in shape!” She credits the Tracey Anderson Method, which she does about "6 days a week" for about "an hour and a half to two hours," to helping her achieve her toned figure and said it’s “a lot of hard work.”

“Being in a bikini on camera is the best motivation,” Katie joked. And luckily her show Beach Bites gave her that motivation! Airing on the Cooking Channel on May 25th, Katie travels to different beach locations where she does cooking demos with chefs "so people can these recipes at home." She joked saying it was a “tough job,” but her “dream job!”
“I grew up cooking, I was always in my grandma's cooking, and I never thought of it as a career,” Katie said about her decision to get into the cooking industry. “I started reading Bon Appetite and Gourmet and all these different food publications, so I started thinking ‘I wonder if I could be a food writer.’” However, her "path took a different fork in the road,” as she said.
In 2006, Katie hosted the first season of Bravo’s Top Chef which she called “a great experience.” However, it “wasn’t the right fit” and in the end, “everything worked out just fine.”
Katie was married to Billy Joel for five years before they divorced in 2009. However, the pair have remained on good terms and are “still friends.” “I want nothing but the best for him,” she said.
