Chris Pine got totally candid in an interview with the Daily Mirror, where he got honest about going full-frontal in his new Netflix film, Outlaw King. He also got super real about how nudity unmasks an important double standard in the entertainment industry. Keep reading for more details.
In the action-drama, dropping on the streaming service on Friday, Nov. 9, Chris plays the Scottish ruler Robert the Bruce and the film chronicles his journey as he is forced into exile.
The Wonder Woman star doesn't understand why his nudity has caused a lot of commotion. He said, “In exploring this kind of man who is to be called king and treated like a king, I thought it was important to see the king and the animal...He is both violent and primitive and bestial."
“People want to talk about my penis as if we’re a bunch of teenagers playing spin the bottle," the 38-year-old continued. He remarked how no one wants to talk about the amount of violence is portrayed in the drama.

The This Means War actor also commented on the nudity when he said, “And I think it’s certainly a marker of our puritanical culture where, if people make love or show what God gave us, it's somehow NC-17. You can debowel, behead... you can do all sorts of crazy s*** like that and people are like, ‘Yeah that seems right’. Let's put a big mirror up to us and say, ‘Why? What’s going on, guys?’”
Chris also wondered about the double standards set forth by Hollywood films. He questioned why his co-star Florence Pugh's nude scenes haven’t caused as much of an issue as his did. “Florence shows her entire body in this film and no one is talking about that. Is Florence expected to do that because she is a woman and I'm not expected to do that because I’m a man?”
