Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s youngest child, Josie, turned 10 on December 10! The parents took their daughter on a special birthday lunch and thanked fans for praying for their “miracle” child. As fans of 19 Kids and Counting know, Josie was born nearly three months premature and spent several months getting neonatal treatment in the hospital.
Jim Bob, 54, and Michelle, 53, took Josie out for lunch along with their daughter Jordyn and their nieces Mackynzie and Meredith on her big day. “Enjoyed a special birthday lunch at Cracker Barrel!” the captioned photos on Instagram.
“Every child is a miracle, but Josie is one we give special thanks to God for today!! She turns 10 on December 10th, and we are so grateful for her life. Josie is full of laughter and spunk, and keeps us young!” the parents wrote.
They added, “We still hear from so many of you how you have prayed for her since birth and it is very humbling! Thank you! We know God has great plans for this little girl.”
Anna also hosted a tea party for Josie. Anna, 31, was pregnant with her first child, Mackynzie, at the same time as her mother-in-law, Michelle, was pregnant with Josie. Mackynzie, 10, was born two months before Josie. Anna shared a photo on her Instagram Story of Mackynzie and Josie making funny faces and joked, “When your aunt finally turns 10.”

Josie’s sister Jinger also shared a sweet message to her youngest sibling. “Wishing you a day as lovely as your smile and a year as joyful as your heart!” she wrote.
The 10-year-old’s milestone birthday is extra special to the family considering Josie’s initial fight for survival. Michelle gave birth to Josie in December 2009 via emergency C-section when she was 25 weeks gestation. The couple’s daughter was only weighed 1 pound and 6 ounces.
After nearly four months in neonatal care, Josie was discharged on April 6, 2010. The infant then had to be rushed back to the hospital on April 12 because of health complications. Josie remained in the hospital until June when she was finally stable enough to return home.
