A few days after news broke of Dakota Johnson closing her famous tooth gap, the star sat down with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show and explained why she made the sudden change.

While Dakota's fans are pretty upset about her tooth gap closing, she seems just as sad!

“Well, so I had a permanent retainer since I was like 13, and it was just glued to the back of my teeth,” the 29-year-old told Jimmy, 44, on the Tuesday, August 6 episode of the late night show.

“I was having a lot of neck problems recently so my orthodontist, she decided that it would be a good idea to take it off and see if my jaw sort of expanded and it helped me," the Fifty Shades of Grey actress explained.
