Dax Shepard’s road to stardom wasn’t always paved with success and glory. In fact, on a recent episode of his podcast, Armchair Expert, he got candid about a pretty huge failure.
During a conversation with actor Sean Hayes, Dax opened up about the time he was axed from the Will & Grace reboot in 2017. “I was fired from your show,” the 43-year-old admitted. “Which is my only firing experience of my life.”
However, Dax insisted he had no hard feelings. “I’m fine with it now. It was an interesting feeling to get fired,” he said.
He only worried that him getting sacked would alter the friendship he had with Sean. “The only thing I cared about is that you and I were involved,” he continued. “Had it been any other thing with a bunch of strangers, I would have been like, ‘Oh, whatever. I was at a table read for 45 minutes and then I got fired. Who gives a s—?’”
“The only thing is there was no anonymity to it for me,” the Parenthood star explained. “I knew many of the people at that table read. I think maybe that was the only element that I was like, ‘Well, that’s kind of embarrassing. These are people that I know, and then I got canned.”

Sean admitted the moment was just as upsetting for him. “I almost blocked it out, because it was horrible that it happened,” he said.
Dax also added,“That’s the only time in being friends in twelve years that I feel like, ‘Oh my god, I feel like something is awkward between us.'”
However, the pair has worked hard to preserve their relationship. “I blocked it out,” the Will & Grace actor explained, “Because it has nothing to do with me or you.”
