During last Wednesday night’s episode of The Talk, Sharon Osbourne said Meghan Markle doesn’t “look black to anybody.” At an interview during the amfAR Gala Sharon’s co-host Eve defended her fellow co-star. Scroll below for the details.
Meghan was under scrutiny before she married Prince Harry for being an American, previously divorced, and biracial – a fact about which people made many racist comments. Her father Thomas Markle is white and her mother Doria Ragland, who recently moved to England for Meghan, is black.
In case you missed it, Sharon reacted to Pierce Morgan’s statement on Good Morning Britain that Meghan and Prince Harry’s child would be the "first black baby" in the royal family.
On The Talk, Sharon proceeded to say Meghan, “ain't black” and added, “she doesn't look black to anybody.” The British native instead referred to Meghan as “mixed race.”
Amid the comments, fans of The Duchess were angered. Sharon’s co-host Eve came to her defense and said, “This is the thing; Sharon is Sharon. She is the most incredible, the most open, the most honest person in the world. And I think some of those things, because she is so honest, can be taken the wrong way.”

She continued to say, “I knew what she meant because I love her and I get it. I lived in England and so I get it. I think she's just being her honest self, always.”
Lastly, the former rapper said, “I think she says the things that people are afraid to say, which is why people love her on the show, period.”
Sharon later clarified her statement and said, “I want to say something before you start writing in and picking up the phone. When I said Meghan is not black, where I come from she is mixed race. She is not white, not black - mixed race. That is the term that is used in Europe.”
