Gina Rodriguez had a serious health scare on Tuesday just before her interview with the ladies of The Talk. It got so bad that a nurse was rushed to the studio. Read on for the latest.
Gina was probably thanking her lucky stars yesterday after she just barely overcame a “deathly” allergic reaction to a blueberry she ate backstage at The Talk just before she went on air for her interview. While waiting for her segment, she decided to take advantage of craft services — and accidentally consumed the fruit.
That’s when the 34-year-old admitted that her inability to turn down free food led to her devouring more than she should have. “The problem with me is when you offer free food, I eat it — every time, without fail,” she said.
Despite getting immediately treated by a nurse who was rushed to the set, the Jane the Virgin star was still shaken up about it by the time she went live. Co-host Sara Gilbert even brought it up at the top of their conversation: “We just want to start out asking if you are OK, because you had a health incident backstage.”
She added, “I was so hungry this morning ... and there was just food displayed and I starting maxing. I was like, ‘I definitely ate a blueberry, definitely, definitely that tasted like a blueberry."'
But the actress, who said she is “deathly allergic to blueberries,” received immediate care on the spot. “I took allergy medicine, so if I'm a little loopy, don't blame me, blame the meds. We're good, we're good. No hives!” she assured.
