A friend of Duchess Kate's says that she's been having trouble keeping her appetite up while pregnant, and she's turned to hypnotherapy in effort to fix the problem. And supposedly, it's working! If Kate is indeed using hypnotherapy to improve her situation, she's hardly the first celeb to do so! Here, a look at some other famous faces who sought out this unique therapy for one reason or another.

2. Princess Diana: For Confidence

Hypnotherapy was popular in the Royal family long before Kate! Princess Diana was said to employ the method for help increasing her confidence with public speaking, and Sarah Ferguson used it to help her quit smoking and for weight loss. In 2011, Sarah famously underwent hypnosis on OWN's Finding Sarah, and revealed that she wished she and Prince Andrew never got divorced.

3. Kevin Costner Used it for Seasickness

Kevin employed a hypnotherapist to come to the set of 1995 flick Waterworld and help him overcome seasickness. The hypnotist was successful, but the same cannot be said for Waterworld, which is still regarded as a huge flop. No word on if Kevin used hypnosis to forget the film entirely.

4. Bruce Willis Used it for Stuttering

The A-List actor credits hypnosis with helping him overcome the stutter that plagued him in his younger years (before he was THE Bruce Willis).

5. Jessica Alba: Hypnobirthing

While pregnant with second daughter Haven, Jessica stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show and told Ellen all about hypnobirthing—which is kind of like hypnosis, but not exactly. "It's basically my husband takes me through sort of a meditation. So he's like saying, 'you're relaxed and you're floating on clouds while you're going through labor and your contractions.' He just sort does a guided mediation," Jessica explained. Judging by how gorgeous both Honor and Haven are, we're convinced that this practice can't hurt!

6. Ellen DeGeneres: For Smoking

Speaking of Ellen, she tried hypnotherapy for help kicking cigarettes to the curb. She underwent a session with famed hypnotist Paul McKenna on her talk show in 2006. She later admitted to going three days without even thinking about cigarettes. Other celebs to use hypnosis to quit smoking? Matt Damon, Ben Affleck and Aaron Eckhart.

7. Orlando Bloom

Awww. Picture a mini-Orlando being scolded for his love of chocolate. Adorable, right? We're sure his mom thought so too, but she also thought her son was going to need help to kick his sweet tooth. She took him to a hypnotist, and since then the only thing he's been as sweet on is his gorgeous wife, Miranda Kerr.
