Actor, part-time DJ, and overall British hunk, Idris Elba has reportedly signed on to join Hobbs and Shaw. The film will serve as a spinoff to the Fast and Furious series. Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham are already onboard to reprise their roles as Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw.
Fast and Furious screenwriter Chris Morgan will create the script and Deadpool 2 director, David Leitch, is all set to lead. The film’s production is scheduled to begin sometime this fall.
Though, not much is known about the film’s plot, fans have already begun speculating that Idris’s character will butt heads with Luke Hobbs (played by Dwayne Johnson).
Most recently, Idris reprised his role on the big screen as Heimdall in both Avengers: Infinity War Part I and Thor: Ragnarok.
The 45-year-old also attended Sundance Film Festival, this time on the other side of the camera. He made his directorial debut with the film Yardie.
While critics believe that he will return to the director’s chair eventually, his Hobbs and Shaw appearance will undoubtedly come first.
