Jill Duggar & Derick Dillard Will Continue Mission Trip Volunteering Despite Friend's Tragic Murder

Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard are not done with international mission trips just yet. Despite announcing their “new direction in ministry” last August, the couple recently revealed that they are gearing up to hit the road once again.
“We look forward to going on a couple more mission trips in the next few months to Mexico and Colorado,” Jill and Derick wrote on their blog.
The couple’s announcement comes nearly nine months after the family returned from a mission trip in Central America. As previously reported, the Dillards ended their three-month-long mission trip in El Salvador just days after their friend was found murdered after being kidnapped.

“We received a phone call on Monday from a friend here in Central America informing us that one of our other good friends (a fellow Christian) had been murdered the day before and that his family had found his body down by the river earlier that morning,” Jill wrote on the couple’s blog at the time.
After their return to the States, Jill and Derick announced that they would be putting their mission trip volunteering on hold.
“Through a number of circumstances, and guided by much prayer and counsel, we are discerning the Lord leading our family’s full-time ministry back to the United States for the time being,” they shared. “At this time, God has seen fit for our family to continue serving him in ministry within the context of Northwest Arkansas.”
