Jill Duggar likes to be as close to her husband Derick Dillard as possible — even it means making things a little awkward for everyone else when they’re out in public.

On Friday, Nov. 16, Jill shared a photo of her and Derick out on a date. In the photo, the two enjoy sushi while sitting side by side in a booth. “Time with this guy is precious and my fave! Thanks babe for being my man! #weeklydate @derickdillard #soblessed,” Jill captioned the photo.
One fan asked why the couple was sitting next to each other, rather than on opposite ends of the table. “Double date or is the other side of the booth empty?” they asked.
“It’s empty,” Jill revealed. “We always like to sit on the same side of the table. If they ever seat us at one of those little tables where you have to sit across from each other, then we usually ask to move.”
“That’s so cute I could die,” the fan replied, but fans on Reddit weren’t convinced it was a “cute” idea. “It always looks so awkward when dates sit on the same side of the booth as each other,” one fan wrote, while another commented, “Like other couples, they might overcompensate. Try their hardest to convince themselves as well as others that everything's great.”
Fans have previously accused Jill of trying too hard to praise her husband on social media, especially after his transphobic comments got the family kicked off Counting On. Fans once claimed she was “desperate” to make Derick look good, and they've also accused the couple of packing on the PDA as part of an act.
