Jill Duggar & Derick Dillard Close Fundraising Site After Fans Bash Them For ‘Begging’ For Cash

Derick Dillard has closed his fundraising site just days after it’s launch! (he didn’t even reach his goal of $6500!) The Counting On star concluded his fundraising for “various mission trips” after receiving only $125, leaving many fans to wonder why he shut it down.
One reason may be that the reality star felt guilt and/or shame after getting tons of backlash for attempting to profit off of his fans, as many of Derick’s followers slammed him for “begging” for money despite his socioeconomic status.
“Oh my gosh, here we go again with asking people for money,” one fan commented on his wife Jill Duggar’s Instagram post where she promoted his fundraising campaign. “I thought it is Derick's responsibility to provide for their family. Neither one has employment and it's getting ridiculous.”
On the fundraising site's "About" page, Derick wrote that he was raising funds for “various missions opportunities he will have throughout the year.”

“Aren't there other ways to fundraise money?” another fan asked. “My mother does raffles and events. My kids at school do bake sales and raffles. Instead of asking for money find ways to make it. We all work hard for our money and you should too.”
While there seemed to be an onslaught of hate thrown at Derick, he never addressed his haters. However, he did ask his followers on Twitter to donate to Hurricane Harvey victims.
Derick’s call to action actually fell on the same day he closed his fundraising site, which has left some wondering if he either closed it out of guilt (because he was asking for money that he already had), or he simply wanted his fans to send their funds to another cause – specifically, Harvey relief.
