Jill Duggar’s husband Derick Dillard once declared on Twitter, “Hey kids, Santa isn’t real!” However, thanks to a shocking video shared by his wife, it’s been revealed the former Counting On star wasn’t always a non-believer!

Over Christmas, Jill shared a video of her husband Derick as a youngster in 1993 on the local news station’s The Santa Show.
In the news clip, a young Derick sits atop Santa’s knee and lists everything he wants for Christmas. “A truck and an airplane,” Derick says before pausing. Santa then prompts him and asks, “How about some firetrucks and ambulances?”
“I want a firetruck and that’s all,” Derick replies, before adding his dad “don’t care” about getting gifts and “doesn’t want nothing.”

The video of a young Derick asking Santa for Christmas gifts contradicts Derick’s own message to kids in 2016. When the now-fired Counting On star tweeted “Santa isn’t real!” he faced backlash from fans and quickly deleted the tweet.
“What a big man to make children cry. Don’t use your god to be so hateful. Kids can believe in Santa. Not your place. Grow up,” one follower replied, while another said, “I respect your right to your beliefs please respect ours would you like me to tell your child that Christ isn’t real?”
The Duggar family doesn't encourage their kids to believe in Santa. Rather, they like to focus on the reason for the season: Jesus' birthday. The family doesn't even have a Christmas tree, but even Jill let that rule slip this year!
