Kate Middleton fans know she loves tennis. Every year, the Duchess of Cambridge can be seen in the Royal Box at Wimbledon, cheering on players. Recently, she even took over the Queen’s role as patron of the All England Lawn Tennis Club. Kate is so passionate about the game that she even had a tennis court built at her family’s country home Anmer Hall. But during an interview with Sue Baker for the BBC Documentary Our Wimbledon, Kate revealed she wasn’t always able to share in the royal family’s VIP Wimbledon status!
Back in July 2013, Kate was heavily pregnant with her son Prince George, but she was still determined to make it to the Wimbledon finals to watch Scottish tennis player Andy Murray take on Novak Djokovic.
Kate’s doctor, however, told her there was no way she was allowed to attend the event so close to her due date. “Definitely not,” he said.
“I was very heavily pregnant,” Kate told Sue. “I wrote to Andy afterwards saying sorry for not being there.”

But expect to see Kate back at the tennis championship this year. “Being able to go into Wimbledon and be part of an amazing atmosphere is special. It inspires young people including myself,” she told Sue.
