If Erinn Hayes thought her character was safe on the hit CBS show Kevin Can Wait, she was sadly mistaken! After playing Kevin James’ wife for a full season on the hit show, the actress has been let go from the sitcom, surprising both fans and the actress herself. According to TVLine.com, Erin is being dropped for Leah Remini, who briefly appeared in the show’s season finale. Kevin and Leah have already starred together as a TV couple on the show King of Queens, which ran for nine seasons. Is Kevin Can Wait becoming King of Queens part two?

Rumors of Erinn’s departure from the show first began over the weekend, when news emerged that Leah was hired as a series regular. Kevin’s former longtime King of Queens co-star played his cop character’s ex-partner on the season finale of Kevin Can Wait.

Erinn eventually confirmed she’d be leaving Kevin Can Wait, tweeting, “True, I've been let go from the show. Very sad, I had a great experience season 1. Thank you for all the support from our wonderful fans.”

On Kevin Can Wait, Erinn played Kevin’s wife of 20 years, Donna Gables. Fans are wondering how CBS will rework the show with the sudden disappearance of such a central character. “A bizarre move,” one fan tweeted.

Leah, however, is thrilled about her new full-time role. “Dreams do come true #blessed #grateful,” she wrote on Instagram.
