‘RHOBH’ Star Kyle Richards’ Show ‘American Woman’ Cancelled After 1 Season
Sept. 6 2018, Updated 1:04 p.m. ET
It appears that Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards is out of a job…at least where Paramount Network is concerned. The company has announced that it will not be renewing her show, American Woman, for a second season.
Though the show had a respectable following during its premiere, it was unable to keep viewers returning each week. Viewership kept declining as the season went on.
The series was based on the real-life childhood of Kyle Richards. She also served as the show’s co-executive producer.
American Woman portrayed Bonnie (who was played by Alicia Silverstone), a now-single mother who was forced to raise her two daughters alone after her husband leaves them. Her struggles were set against the rise of second-wave feminism in ‘70s LA.

Ahead of the show’s premiere, Kyle explained that its production placed a massive strain on the relationship between her and her two sisters, Kathy Hilton and Kim Richards.
At the time Kyle explained, “After producing American Woman, our relationship has changed. It has. I just want to be able to explain to them that these shows are inspired by my life, not theirs.”
