You might think after countless albums and several Grammys, Keith Urban would have no problem purchasing a few snacks at a convenience store. But last week the country star found himself short a few dollars at the cash register and a local retired elementary school teacher swooped in and picked up his tab. Read on for more!
Keith was in an unfamiliar predicament on Friday when he found himself short some cash at a Wawa store in New Jersey.
But thankfully, local teacher Ruth Reed, who had NO idea who he was, watched him search for money and offered to pay his tab for him—much to his surprise.
She later told CBS Philly, “I didn’t know it was Keith Urban. I didn’t think he had enough money to pay for his things so, I said I would pay for it. When he told me who he was and I briefly didn’t believe it was him.”

In fact, she grilled him about it: “I said that he did look like Keith Urban, he said he was. I didn’t believe him, I asked where Nicole Kidman was and who was the lady he was with at the time. He told me it was his sister. He finally said that I could ask his bodyguard. It was then I realized what an idiot I was. He graciously allowed me to get my picture taken with him.”
And now that pic has gone viral across both Twitter and Facebook. Ruth tweeted along with the pic, “@KeithUrban, thank you for the photo at @Wawa. You were so gracious. I’m a celebrity with my FB friends now! Thanks!”
